grapevine dirty dozen

One of Grapevine's foremost volunteer groups, the Grapevine Dirty Dozen, is entering its 11th year. Working under the Grapevine Heritage Foundation, it began with the idea that at any time twelve people could gather on short notice to conquer any task, no matter how dirty, and have evolved into the city's most prestigious workforce.

Perhaps you have seen them at festivals on Main Street in their purple shirts, when they are busy setting up or tearing down the many booths that are required. Or during the festivals themselves as they assist in working operations to keep the event running smoothly. Maybe you have spotted them on Ira E. Woods on a Saturday morning when they participate in Texas' Adopt A Highway program.
Certainly you have seen them in Grapevine's Christmas Parades, with their shovels, cleaning up behind Santa's "reindeer"!
Other major projects the Dozen have completed include helping with the demolition of the Palace Theater before it underwent restoration and the refurbishing of cars 1808 and 1818 on our Grapevine Vintage Railroad. Soon they will begin restoring the old Union Pacific caboose that is located at the Heritage Center.

The Dozen is always open for new volunteers. While it in not for the feeble, the only requirement is that you are able to work hard and have fun at the same time.

Anyone interested in joining the Dirty Dozen please contact Beth Wilder at bbwilder@earthlink.net
